Toronto based filmmaker Tracy German draws parallels between the gestures of body language and nostalgic notions of lapsed time. Impeded Streams and Stains consists of five 16 mm loops of black and white hand processed images depicting gestures between mother and child. These loops are projected on various surfaces such as sand spilling out over a sandbox, water reflecting on a pond, as well as front and rear-screened images through fabric. Bio Tracy German is a Toronto independent filmmaker, artist, and mother currently attending York University in the second year of an MFA degree in film Production. Her film A Private Patch of Blue has been exhibited locally and internationally at over 35 film festivals. Currently she is finishing a documentary called Restless Spirits about her rural roots through her stepmother's participation as a rodeo calf roper. Impeded Streams and Stains debuted at the Durham Art Gallery in Durham, Ontario in 2004. http://www.tracygerman.com |
